Emerald and Diamond Necklace.
The ladies of Palm Beach use such necklaces regularly for the
parties, balls, and charity events in Palm Beach.  You can't wear
the same one every time, so they come to the show each year to
obtain a new color or new style.  Business is brisk.

Johannes von Hove.  "The Old Port."  Dutch  17th century.
The Lawrence Steigrad Gallery is one of my favorites, specializing in Dutch painting of
the 17th - 19th centuries.  He has a beautiful display, dark with spotlights, and hires a
special English craftsman to make his frames in 17th century style.  An actual 17th
century frame today would probably be worth more than the painting.  Museums are
replacing the gaudy gold 19th frames they had been using and returning to the originals.

This is a detail of the above painting.

Frederick Kruseman.  "Winter Scene."  Dutch.  18th century.

Detail of above picture.

Gaspar van der Hoecke.  "Bouquet of Flowers."  1647
The Dutch developed many new varieties of flowers, and a new
tulip color might sell for more than $1 million.  So these paintings are
depictions of the wealth a man had and what he could afford.

German School.  "Waffles and Tankard."  17th century.

Sir Peter Lely.  "The Duchess of Caernarvon."

Juan Ripolles.  "Figure."  Spanish artist, Murano glass.

Dale Chihuly.  "Pink Seaform."  U.S.  Blown Glass.
One dealer was offering a number of smaller Chihuly pieces.

Dale Chihuly.  "Chartreuse Piccolo Venetian."  U.S.  Blown Glass.

Tiffany Studios.  "Favrile Glass Vase."
The studio developed a technique of exposing the hot glass to metallic oxides, and
they oxidized to look like ancient Roman glass vessels found in the ground, where
natural oxides had colored them over centuries.

Rene Lalique.  "Crouching Woman."  France.  20th Century.
Molded glass.  Lalique made molds so hundreds of copies could
be made inexpensively.  He believed everyone should be able to afford
beautiful objects for their homes.
