Nader Museum Latin American Art

Richard Hudson.  "Marilyn Monroe."  U.S.  Stainless Steel.
The Nader Museum occupies a huge former warehouse and consists actually of three parts:
there is a large outdoor sculpture garden; the collection of Latin American art; and the
collection of contemporary art.  Gary Nader is an art dealer and collector, and the
museum also serves as a gallery from which he sells art.  The museum is one of the
four small private museums in Wynwood, just north of downtown Miami.

Fernando Botero.  "Adam and Eve."  Bronze.  12 feet high.  Colombia.
Botero's figures, whether in sculpture or painting, are always inflated.  These are
bigger than life in several ways.

Fernando Botero.  "Large Head."  Bronze.  8 feet high.  Colombian.

Ahmed Al-Bahrani.  "Charlie Chaplin and Rifle"  Iraqi.  Bronze.
These nine statues stand behind the museum; they were created in 2012 as part of
Art Miami and stood in a Miami park for several months.  There is also Gandhi, Muhammed
Ali, and Mother Theresa with rifles.

This is based on the famous Greek statue of the "Belvedere Torso."

Wifredo Lam.  "Portrait of an Unknown."  Cuban.  Surrealist.
Lam had ancestors who were natives, Black slaves, Spanish, Chinese immigrants,

practiced voodoo and took him into the jungle at night to learn the rites.

Wifredo Lam.  "Untitled."  Cuban.

Wifredo Lam.  "Here on Earth."  Cuba.  Surrealism.
Lam tried to use his dreams and subconscious mind to find new images
and emotions.

Wifredo Lam.  "Female Horse."  Cuba.  Surrealist.
His images sometimes look more like nightmares.

Jesus Rafael Soto.  "Blue and White Squares."  Venezuela.  Op Art.
The Venezuelan artists are the world leaders in Op Art or Retinal Art, art which
interacts with your eyes.  In this work he uses painted lines, hanging wires, small
squares of color mounted on wood posts, to create a work which vibrates and moves
as you walk by.   The other great Venezuelan master is Carlos Cruz-Diez.

Martin Kippenberger.  "Liza Minelli."  German painter and sculptor.

Anselm Reyle.  "Untitled."  German.  Gold polyurethane.

David Hendren.  "Orange Mirror."  Los Angeles.

Nicolas Leive.  "Polychrome Pottery."  Argentina / Miami.

Frank Stella.  "The Mat-maker."  U.S.
Stella combines painting and sculpture in 3D pieces which look like paintings in
space.  This is made of aluminum which has been bent, stretched, shaped, and painted;
but it hangs on the wall like a painting.

Frank Stella.  "Scarlatti Sonata K 132."  U.S.  Tubular Steel.
It looks like Stella is drawing in metal in these pieces, which hang on hooks
from the wall.  The museum has a large number of pieces.

Frank Stella.  "Open."  U.S.  Steel and Aluminum.

Marcos Amaro.  "Flagging Wings."  Brazil.  Airplane fuselage parts.

Two sculptural pieces.
The room here is very large and open and bright, excellent for displaying and
enjoying art.

The artist is actually twin brothers who work together on their paintings, whether on
canvas or on the large outdoor murals, for which they are very famous.

Sophia Vari.  "Approche Definitive."  Greek.  Abstract.

Sandro Chia.  "Untitled / Heads."  Mosaic pieces on board.
Chia is one of the leading Italian artists today and uses many media.  These look
like fragments of a Roman mosaic from Pompei or Rome.

Vasarely is the "father of Op Art in Europe."

Damien Hirst.  "Dot Painting."  British.

Nam June Paik.  "Broad Shoulders."  American / Korean.

programmed to show certain images over and over.

"HOPE" and "LOVE" are ubiquitous.

Enio Iommi.  "Untitled."  Argentina.  Abstract Steel.

Roberto Matta.  "The Depths of the Universe."  Chile / Paris / New York.
Matta has been the great master of surrealism and ambiguous space for many years
in New York and Paris, as well as Chile.

Carlos Cruz-Diez.  "Physiochromie."  Venezuela. Op Art / Retinal Art.Cruz-Diez is one of
the greatest masters of Op Art.  This work consists of thin slats glued to the surface
of the board.  The background and each side of the slat is painted in a different color,
so as you walk by, the work changes color constantly with you.

The museum's collection is very good and very enjoyable and very spacious.
I recommend it highly.
