My Morning Walk - Bldg 22

Another special building on my walks is No. 22.  A man named Joe maintains dozens of

orchids on a number of palm trees in front of his building.  This is a spray of lilac orchids.

"Lemon Chiffon and Raspberry."

The flowers must really like this location, which faces north, because they bloom

prolifically.  People give plants to Joe after they have enjoyed them in their homes and

all the blossoms have fallen off.  Joe ties them to a tree and watches to make sure they are

happy and get some moisture, which their roots absorb from the humid air or get in rain.

This bed is one of the most successful in my whole area; it has been blooming

continuously like this for almost five years now.

At least ten of these orchid plants with rhizomes were attached to the trees and are not yet

blooming.  I shall be coming back to see them when they bloom.  Perhaps they are
dendrobiums.

Two Varieties of Lavender Orchids

This is another white orchid with yellow throat.  It is blooming so prolifically, you can hardly 

see it.  Look and you will see that there are eight flowers blooming on this stalk already,

one behind the other, and there are lots more to come.

On the ground were bushes of red and white New Guinea Impatiens.
